hi all,

so what made you choose St. James over the others, particularly Xavier?

im a prospective student doing some research. i have my pre-med reqs from years ago (no MCATS), but then changed careers and now i realize medicine is my true calling afterall. now, i'm looking for a foreign med school where i don't need MCATS.

thanks!

It is relatively quick, fairly cheap, no MCAT required.

There is plenty of downside that will bog you down if you let it, but the school will put you on path to take the USMLE which is all that really matters.

hes exactly right, everyone can boast about there own school saying, oh we got the facilities and blah blah all kinds of worthless shit... but in the end, the most important thing is to pass those exams, and this school give u the golden ticket to attempt one of these exams... so if u can study by yourself and stay dedicated, ur gunna pass step 1 for sure.

They will make all kinds of promises to help you become a MD but once you join they are only intrested in your money they do not care you make it or not. The staff at the US office are very unfriendly and you canot even speak to owers of the schhol. but they rude and useless staff they have no concern about future of the students.

They had promises us that student loan was in process and until than they would postpone the fees. Now that I am ready for my USMLE and I was told that unless I paid all the fees in full they would not release my papers. I ageed to have a payment plan but they want full payment, intrested in money not the students hardship. With the economic climate my dad lost his job and there is no way to get any private loans.

If they not promised to postone the fees When I started, i would have gone othere schools who better staff both in the office and at college and a loans provider.

Anyone going to school, Please beware the owners are after your money , so try other schools there are lots other good cheap schools with student loans. I can send you list.

PLEASE DO NOT JOIN ST JAMES MEDICAL SCHOOL.

I am going to see my senetor and also wrirting to take this to all the medical bodies who have certified them so they can be removed lose their US licence.

hey im sorry about what happend to you about loosing your loan and now being told to pay.

i understand the school is giving you a hard time
but you have to understand its st james
they want money

other schools are the same
i have family members who have taught at ross st matts and sgu
and unless you pay tution you cant do anything

those school however have loans so it makes it easier to get the money

have you looked at private bank loans?
your dad could co sign if you have good credit
also there are things called professional loans
i also know there are other loan programs out there that help students while in residency maybe they could help you out?

i mean dont give up or blame the school
writting obama isnt gonna do squat

you need to study for your step and find the money somehow
which im sure you can do
any bank that gives you anything
take it
youll be able to pay it back easily someday

goodluck!

I have been hearing that NY approval was coming since 2005. Don't hold your breath.

For those of you who don't know what NY approval is; it only means that you can do more than 12 weeks of clinical rotations in NY. It has nothing to do with residency or licensure whatsoever. Every school that doesn't have NY approval yet talks about how they are going to get it soon and how great it will be when they do. It is nothing to concern yourself about (unless you live in NY and want to do your rotations there, then you're SOL).

Good observation Requiredfield. Btw its 12 weeks ELECTIVE rotations only.
What students should focus on is achieving a good USMLE pass. Stick to green book rotations only. Once you graduate you can get licensed in NY.
