Ok so here's what happened. I was playing basketball one day at NYIT which is where I currently go and am doing pre-med. I found a faculty parking sticker in the parking lot after playing an no one was around plus at that time I just got my car and it wasn't yet registered. I stuck the sicker into the back window and drove away. Next day I was pulled over by security and the took the sticker telling me I stole it, which makes no sense because no teacher or faculty reported it missing and the sticker still had its original backings and what not. They registered my car took down my info and told me I'll need to speak to the dean over this issue.
My problem is that will this effect my elligibilty to get into a good med school if this goes onto my record? It seem's really dumb to put me through all this trouble because I found a faculty sticker that no one has reported missing or stolen. Can I have this incident removed from my records?

How do you know that it wasn't reported missing? It is possible that the security guard ran the sticker number and found your license plate number didn't match with the license plate registered with that faculty sticker.

If you are found guilty and a note is made on your record, this is something you'll have to report on your med school applications. It's an act of dishonesty and it will certainly be considered by an admissions committee when they review your file. It may not disqualify you for admission, but you'll probably be asked to explain yourself if you are invited for an interview.
If this is your first offense with your school, you might get off with a warning and no record of the incident will be left in your file. You wouldn't need to note this on your med school application.
If this is your second offense, see if you can exchange a letter in your file for some sort of community service.
It's not silly for you to be put through the ringer like this. Like I said, what you did was dishonest and not becoming of a person who wants to enter a profession where honesty is crucial.

You know I did not think of it like that. I guess whatever trouble I'm being put through I deserve. Still I just hope this does not mess me over too bad. Thanks for the help!

If I got the story straight, only one day passed between you finding the sticker and you getting reported? The question I have, did you use the sticker for parking purposes, you said you just threw it in the back window but were vague about what happened with it afterwards.

Yea pretty much, the next morning a security officer for the campus pulled me over and asked me about the sticker and took it. I didn't even get to pull into the parking lot. I completely forgot the sticker was even there. In any case the officer didn't want to hear and told me disciplinary measures would be taken and that I have to see the dean.

hmm sounds like a set up.. how would the security guard know so quickly that you had the sticker? it would make more sense if you parked in the lot and security wrote you a ticket or put a boot on your car so that you couldn't drive away because they came around and checked the stickers and noticed that yours didn't match the registered car. but even still how many times do they run the actual numbers to check, they usually just look at the sticker and if it looks real and not expired that's all they care about.
I don't think it's a big deal because you didn't steal it. you found it. just explain that to the dean. it's not like you beat up the professor or broke into his car and took the thing.

Yea, that's pretty much what I plan to do. It's not like I abused the sticker. I didn't even have time to pull into the parking lot let alone pull into a teacher spot. The security officer probably pulled me over because I looked suspicious, not sure why. Probably because I'm Indian, that's all I can think of. In any case if they decide to say I stole it and abused it I don't think they would be able to prove that since I literally had the sticker for less than a day and I pretty much gave it up when they asked me about it. It's really gonna suck if they try to screw me over though.

you nothing has happened yet? in all this time you still haven't seen the dean?
If that's the case I wouldn't worry about it the cop probably just tried to scare you to not do something like that again. and nothing will happen.
