Hey ya'll, I have a quick question. I have been doing a lot of research into Poznan and found it is a great school. My question is that I am fixing to be a college graduate with little science background. I am planning to take a basic chemistry and biology over the summer. I have had a baby physics class and lab as well as biology my first go round in school. I left college three years ago and came back to graduate. Can I go into the 6 year md program even though i will be a college grad? I am 27 years old and my degree is a b/s in pol. science with a minor in business admin with a 3.216 gpa. I would rather go into the 6 year since of my limited science background and it would take me an extra couple of years to get all the prerequists to get into the 4 year. i called the ny office and they told me the 1st time that i could get into the 6 year then i called back to ask a question and they told me i could not? Does anyone know?

Dont sweat it, you will get in here. Just apply to the NY office, seriously, thats all you have to do. Its easy to get in, but it requires a lot of effort to stay here.
The 4 year MD program is quite tough, they have it really hectic down here in Poznan. But then again, the reason they make it is due to a lot of them having good backgrounds in biology.

sweet thanks for your reply. So you think that even with being a college grad and 27 years old I will get into the 6 year program?

I know people who graduated from college years ago, worked and then decided to go into medicine. They're in the 6 year program.
If u finish your premed requirements u can enter the 4 year md. If not then u can enter the 6 year program. The 6 year program is for high school graduates without any college experience. I graduated from high school and entered the 6 year program.

thanks for the comments. It is good to know that I will be able to get into the 6 year program. What are the average ages, i know i am 27 years old? And how much does the 6 year cost per year?

at Poznan University. They have a 4 year and a 6 year MD program. Both are 50 state legal here in the US and from my research as well as talking to a graduate who now is a professor here at my school in the medical school both programs are great programs

majority is around 20-23 here, there are certain people around the age of 26 and 27, but not a lot of them though. My advice is to definetly come down here and see the place, talk to the students here, because this school has its ups and downs.

Thanks Dilli6 for your comments. What are some of the downsides to the school as well as the good things? Are you in the 6 year right now?

I am 22 in the 4th yr of the 6yr prg.
the age range is actually quite large.. but my advice- if you are older, is to try to get into the 4yr program... do you really want to spend 6yrs here? ehh.... it's not great, and the schedule is quite laid back..

why is it not great? For me i would rather be in the six year where it is a little laid back instead of failing out of the 4 year. How much is it costing you for tuition, room, and food for a year?

both programs are not that great unless you know how to study yourself. In your first post you mentioned that you did alot of research and found that this was a good school. Where did you get that info? From the uni's website? You really need to come here and find out for yourself what you are getting into. Especially if you don't have a science background because you will be teaching yourself. The prof's are horrible, and at best you get a good lecture every other week. Other than that your on your own.

Hey thanks for you response. I have done my research from looking at all the old posts on this forum as well as talking to a graduate who is now a professor as well as doctor for fellowship residences here at ecu. He liked the school and said he would do it again if he had too. He had buddies that went to the carribean but got island crazy and cost them a lot of money. I have also been talking to the NY office with my questions, altough half of the time they tell me I can not get into the six year because i will be a college grad. Dr. Wilk here at ecu thinks that i could get into the 6 year because some of his classes mates in the 4 year dropped down to the 6 because of the lack of science knowledge. I also have found that as of right know Poznan and Lublin are CA approved but Lublin you have to go through HMI(what a rip off). I though about appliny to Warsaw but Dr. Wilk said that while he was at Poznan they just started that school in Warsaw and probably have not all the kinks out yet. So this leaves my back at Poznan. Since I do not have all the pre-requists I was thinking about going into the 6 year program. Any advise would be awesome. I will graduate in December so I have some time. I will apply to Poznan late summer for the Fall 2010 class since you can not start in Jan. Is there a school where i can start in Jan? Well anyways, thanks for the post.
