Hey guys, im new here so forgive any ignorance!
I have done quite a bit of research into going back to Pakistan to do Medicine there. I have all of my family in Lahore and this is the destination that i seek. So i looked on the EAD site and i read how they convert my grades...
According to the site an A is 85 and a B is 75 and a C is 65.
They ask for GCSE (O level) grades in English, 3 sciences and your best subject other then these. I have A*A* (Science double award) B (Eng literature & language both B) A (Maths) A (Physical Education).. Assuming they dont take into account A* and will only take my double award as 2 A's not three seperate ones.. 85+85+85+85+75 = 415 / 600
A level grades are AAB in bio, chem, physics. 85+85+75 = 245 / 300
245 + 415 = 660 / 800 and in terms of 1100 that is 907.5 / 1100
I read how to do this from the IBCC website, it seems correct to me. Could someone please verify? I dont want to apply to medical schools there if i wont get in! Although i read for 07-08 15 seats were given to people with scores of 925-850 and im in the top percentile if my calculations are right. I really want to go to KEMC or any of the other GMC recognised schools in Lahore and i know that if you want the choice you have picked then you need to score high. They dont take into account any extra ciricular activites do they? I have done A LOT of work experience here in the UK and was wondering if this could be used to strengthen my application or is it all grade dependant?
Final question is when does admissions begin and the semester start?
Anyone else applying this year?
Thanks!!!
Jalal A (sorry for the ESSAY)

-Do you want to go to paksitan for good or are you going there just for cheap med education, i mean after getting med education do you have plans to live there for the rest of your life and practise there or soon after finishing ur education you'll be coming back to UK?
-Are you well aware of the current situation in pakistan, load shading ,curruption and bomb blast etc?

I am from the UK yeah, i have average grades as far as Medicine goes here in the UK, but for Pakistan my 5 best GCSE's are A+A+AAB and my A levels are AAB & and an additional A in Business.
Lol ofcourse im aware man, i just got back from pakistan like 2 weeks ago. I go back allll the time, last year i went 3 times cos i love to be with my family. Bassically my grades dont seem to be good enough to get in here in the UK however i am applying one more time here and in Pakistan this year. If i was to go there i would want to go to america after completing my MBBS and the USMLE... Money doesnt have anything to do with it, if anything im willing to pay any amount of fees to get into a respectable school, though not some private dodgy school.. If you could answer all my questions i would be very delighted!!! Im just real confused in that there must be more to the application process then just filling out the form on the EAD website which is 3 pages long lol... and leaving it up to my Equivalence score of 908, which seemed a bit easy to calculate as well!

but bussiness , work experience and extraculicular activites need nothing to do with applying in pak they just see ur equalivilance and ur pakistani med college entrance/ur MCAT score/ ur SAT and SAT ll scores in physics , chemistry and biology.

yeah i thought so, it says that i dont need to take an entrance exam when applying as a foreign pakistani... So its JUST down to my equivalence :-S

well my friend, what i have understood from ur post is ,you want to go to US after MBBS,if US is ur ultimate destination then why don't you try some med school here in US or Uk or canada or try DO as well.Secondly i don't think going to some private MEd school either in europe or carribean is a bad option too,but you just gotta find out the right privatre school not the shady one.I my self is also going to carribean,i did my research and i am pretty confident about my research.I don't know why,but i never thought about getting MD education from pakistan.Hopefully i am not offending anybody,it was just my choice of taking carribean over pakistani school.

Whats DO? Erm i am in the UK but i cant get in here but i am applying one more time! Too much competition. I havent tried in the US because its rediculously expensive for an overseas student, actually forget that.. its SO COMPETITIVE for international students!! Theres no point.
European schools are useless, i have looked into this. Why would i go to some half decent european country like Poland or Czech rep when i can go back HOME, and Pakistani medical schools are better perceived then these schools... The only carribean school i have looked into is SMU and thats dodgy.. not recognised by the GMC!
Anyone got the answer to my questions yet lol??
