Hey, how is everyone, i've noticed and tried to read alot of posts about this, and im not sure, because when i asked IUHS, they said they're graduates can get residency, and clinical rotations,

Now i am very confused, and want a recent and new posts, on this issue, since most posts, date 2 years back, has anything changed? do states, AND provinces accept graduates from this program?

i thought licencing was granted on an individual basis, and if a reflection of your ability? also if you do your basic sciences from this university and transfer into another university, would that help your cause at all? thanks for your help

Provinces?? Depends then, which country you are talking about? I do know as a fact they have students in residency and a few licensed. Of course must states frown at the idea of ONLINE BASIC sciences. Can you be more specific?

Texas, NO. Nevada if I am not mistaken follows the California. The rest, I can't remember.

In Canada, I would recommend you to check with the proper licensing authorities there.

Ok, so far ive been in contact with IUHS, and ive tried to contact several boards, Indiana is the only state, that has THUS FAR, (and im not sure about the others yet) blacklisted IUHS, california actually DOESNT have this school black listed, however, they dont have it listed on their accepted list either

Feedback is much appreciated by everyone, especially since we've entered 2009, so things must change....

In Canada it may be possible however.... several residents I spoke with tell me that fmg's in general compete for less residency spots compared with Canadian MD graduates. An online program may be a tough sell to a program director and committee who decide on who to accept into residency; if that is what you are considering.

Who said I am considering anything? We are just discussing licensing issues doing online basic sciences versus on site, clinical training remains the same, onsite.

i just simply emailed the boards themselves, if you go to any state boards website, they have a section says CONTACT US, and almost always someone who is responsible for licencing, contact that individual, since they are incharge of that department

Hi mansoor, please post any updates, thanks.

As far as I know the only states that license IUHS grads after residency are NE, AZ, IW, MI, AK, Hawai. Even in these states, there is no gurantee, they may still decline but after much scrutiny they may grant a license.

They have a huge shortage of docs and even good Carib school grads dont want to settle in those states. So if you are happy then maybe you can after residency, if you go to IUHS, settle in those states.

If I had a choice, I would not go to IUHS but this upto you and what you are after. I know someone who did the MD instead of PhD to advance in his own field since his MD without residency was equivalent or higher than a PhD when evaluated by a US agency.

If it is genuine education and you pass exams and have proof to show then it would never go waste, you could always use it for your professional advancement but might not be in what you want!!

Good luck, keep us posted, thanks.

Don't touch an online medical school with a ten foot pole. If you want to gamble with a pseudo-accredited medical school on St. Kitts then go to UMHS. It's about the same price and you at least have a chance at getting a medical license in more than four or five states.
