Friday, October 31, 2008 – The latest demonstration of confidence in the investment climate of Saint Lucia was on display last week when ground was broken for the construction of the home of the Destiny University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Vieux-Fort.
The institution, to be built near the Saint Jude's Highway, is an initiative by multi-millionaire investor David Singh and will be completed in 2010. Destiny University will become the fourth school to offer studies in medicine in Saint Lucia.
Mr Singh said the investment will provide much needed human resource training in an area now in global shortage.
“For example, one of the things is this tremendous shortage of medical professionals, but the other thing that is happening is that they haven't been building any learning facilities either. For a whole bunch of reasons, which I am sure the Honourable Prime Minister knows about. It's called money; it’s called capital. Institutions like Destiny University will fill a void,” said Mr. Singh.
“I would like therefore to take this opportunity to commend Mr. David Singh and his group for the demonstration of confidence in the government and people of Saint Lucia. It is a pleasure to have you with us and it's a pleasure to have you engaged in providing an activity hinged on education,” Prime Minister King said.
Meantime, Prime Minister Honourable Stephenson King was symbolically presented with the promised mammography machine from Mr. Singh on behalf of the Ministry of Health. The prime minister pledged governmental support for the project, which he said is in keeping with the national education agenda of Saint Lucia.
The Destiny University School of Medicine and Health Sciences will be located on property purchased from the National Development Corporation (NDC). The NDC, which carries an investment mandate as part of its responsibilities, sees this accomplishment as another success story that will redound to boosting the Saint Lucia's economy.

utterly meanigless. schools in the carib have "groundbreaking" ceremonies almost everry week. what would actually matter would be a construction crew behind the honorary shovel to start the digging same day not a "plan" and drawings for a futiure campus.
will see what happens...i just hope no students het taken advantage of

Montana Tech & Destiny University Partner to Enhance Educational Opportunities
2/11/2009 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Montana Tech of the University of Montana and Destiny University School of Medicine and Health Sciences have partnered to enhance educational opportunities offered to students. This partnership allows Montana Tech students, with a “B” average and a Bachelor of Science degree in either Biology or Chemistry, to receive automatic acceptance into Destiny University.
The partnership will help achieve Destiny University’s goal to make medical school more accessible for current and prospective students, and address the shortage of doctors in Montana and across the nation. The partnership will provide an avenue for Montana Tech students to automatically be accepted to Destiny University and ultimately increase the number of graduating physicians from Destiny University.
“We are pleased to form this partnership with Destiny University. Montana Tech is always happy to present new and exciting opportunities to our students. This partnership, which lessens the uncertainty associated with pursuing a career in medicine, is good for our students, for Montana, and for the nation,” said Dr. Doug Coe, Dean of the School of Letters and Sciences at Montana Tech. “We look forward to seeing an increase in the number of Montana Tech students entering medical school and eventually practicing medicine.”

Pray tell:
Exactly how many medical schools exist in St Lucia?
In what way is IA better than the rest?

I only know of two schools that exist in St. Lucia, Sparta and IAU. And right now w/ Sparta's cali disapproval, IAU students have more states to practice in. By that definition IAU is the better bet.

Is there any need to have another med school with 2 schools already doing well in this little island...
deepk

Only one school is doing well and its IAU. There are not two schools on the island. On IMED you can find five schools and four are active i.e. IAU-the best, spartan sucks, destiny deadly and AIMU aimless.

That is one cool projection clock!
This clock projects the time, date, or temp on the wall or ceiling some people call
it a ceiling clock but I call it a digital projection clock. I got the black one because at the time that was the only color
they had. But now they have them in black and also in white.
Talking about free advertisement... Lol

a 187 is still passing. The more important question is what residency placements have these graduates attained?
