.....i would like to shadow an MUA resident at a local major medical center, are we allowed to? Or do they have to be a licensed doc?

Yes - You have to check with the rules and regs at the hospital. Make sure you have the University pre-med permission also - or it does not count.

What do you mean by it doesnt count. I've shadowed several family friends (MD's) w/o my University permission, and have conted that as E.C's...

(and yes my screename has changed due to personal reasons)

(and yes my screename has changed due to personal reasons)With your university's permission - you are covered for liability in case issues happen. Without it you could face legal boy.

Just want students to be safe. Also some pre-med committees get bent out of shape if you do stuff without permission. Please play it safe! Ask - get a form - return the forms to them. It could make a big difference in their LOR's for you.
