this looks really good... if wasn't for you posting.. and plus there was a little ads by google here... would never know about it..... I guess they started this add today. some of the web page says will be updated Oct 24th... Guessing they just wraped up this. Impressive, such strong affiliation with american clinicals.

I would check with a local state govt to see if they would recognize it.
It doesn't fit the model of Australian education nor do most US medical schools recognize pre-med (not post graduate) education as graduate level education. That may be a major problem in licensing.

Where does it say anything about pre-med work being used as graduate level work?

Undergraduate programs are how you do MBBS in Australia right from high school Australia-U.S. Medical School (http://www.mededpath.org/internationalpathways/application_form.php)
"This M.B.B.S. program (with 2 years of pre-clinical education at University of Queensland in Australia and 2 years of clinical instruction at Ochsner in Louisiana) (the "Program") is subject to approval by the Australian Medical Council (AMC).

Just wanted to help clarify. Pre-Clinical does not mean Pre-Med. Pre-Clinical just means basic science, the first 2 years of med school. In terms of the link to a blog provided by azskeptic, Pre-med preparation program in Australia IU Undergraduate BioBlog (http://hoosierbiology.wordpress.com/2008/10/28/pre-med-preparation-program-in-australia/) basically the writers of the blog in the previous link should not have titled the article in the blog as "pre-med preparation program in Australia." They are referring to this program, Australia-U.S. Medical School (http://adserver.valuemd.com/www/delivery/ck.php?oaparams=2__bannerid=70__zoneid=23__source= %7Bobfs%3A%7D__cb=4440922b6a__maxdest=http://www.mededpath.org/), which is not a pre-med preparation program in Australia. It's med school proper. Basically 2 years of basic science in an Australian University, then 2 years of clinical clerkships in Louisiana. However, it is still safe practice to check with the State Medical Boards in the States you're interested in eventually obtaining any licensure.

this program is indeed a graduate program and unique. If approved it will be the first one in Australia...I stand corrected. Dean

that is a great option for studnets. it basically follows the caribbean model of education with basic science done in australia, clinicals in LA and your degree from australia. i see no reason for it to work..even if the australian council doesn't approve for practice as long as you get ecfmg certified you should be ok in many states.
what will be interesting is to see hpow california deals with this.

We wait to learn if it is allowed in Louisiana or not. Watch here for details.

..this could work...same as SGU (2 year Basics and 2 year US clinicals) so i cant see Cali having a prob or any state for that matter because it is a state owned university....plus you cant get more greenbook than this for clinicals...my gut feeling is that you will have very qualified applicants fill these spots ...SGU might suffer a "little" from this not the other schools as the top applicants would go to SGU before they look elsewhere in the carib...if i was 10 years younger i would sell my gramma (joke) to go here...

....explain to me how this is any different from all the offshore schools...and why Louisiana would have a problem with students rotating through there from UQ? the degree still comes from UQ not a LA school.

too early to know yet. We'll see what the education/licensing system says in Louisiana
