Hello everyone. I am currently accepted to saba for the january semester. I am having second thoughts on behalf of possibly pursuing australia, as I hear there is more certainty with attending an australian school. What do you think? Is the quality of education better in australia and would it make chances of returning to canada more probable? How hard is it to match in australia after med school if you dont match in canada?

Thanks to whomever can answer.

Cheers.

Well, I don't attend Saba, but from what I've heard, it's a pretty good school. The island is certainly challenging to live on.

As for returning to Canada to practice, Saba has a good (as Carib schools go) reputation for getting students residency spots in Canada. That being said, it is not a sure thing. I don't know what the stats are like for Australian grads getting a residency in Canada, but I do know that there is less stigma overall, so would guess that it would be easier.

I don't know about pursuing residency in Australia, except that I've heard it's hard for a non-citizen. Your best bet would be to look at Canada and the US for residency. In that, Saba would have an advantage, in that it teaches for the USMLE.
