whats the lifestyle like in clinicals?
say you get your first IM / FM rotation... ur at the hospital 8-5? ... then go home and study? do you have any time off? weekends? more free time than basic science?
once you're done with a rotation... it doesnt seem like you start the next one the next day....so how much time off you ...*usually get b/w your rotations where you can go home or ..or study for step II?

The lifestyle is PIMP. Only the best will do once you are a student in rotations. Get ready to live the life.

IM or Family may not be your first rotation. IM was my last core.

IM and Family are very different. Family may be one of your easiest rotations and IM one of your hardest. It all depends on where you go for your rotations. Family can be 9-5 or maybe only 9-12. Whereas IM is usually much harder.. I'm in OB now.. hours are on avg 6am-6pm with weekends off..

keep in mind, if youre really thinking of being a surgeon, "lifestyle" is something that will leave your vocabulary. true for many attendings too.

Doing Surgery Core in one of SMU's best site. Myself and a US DO student with the attending Surgeon. Works 7 days a week average from 9-14 hours per day + hardcore pimping. Enjoy good life while you can.

So no relief in sight for this journey !!

Is there formal teaching? (like classes?)
How should you prepare for step 2?
What are your study material?
