Well........... there is a drug war going on in Juarez. People who are involved are getting killed, but sometimes innocent people can get hurt or die. You can google ciudad juarez and read news articles.
Personally, I never felt dangerous inside the school and hospitals.
If you come, just stay away from people who do drugs and don't go to bars/clubs at night and you will be fine.

I believe that 'cuse is really exagerating the situation.
1. If you do not want to get your back side shot up by drug dealer,
i. Don't do drugs ii. don't deal drugs. That is 90% of your problems
right there.
2. Please make sure that you have MEXICAN automobile insurance
(seguro automovil). I do not care if your US policy from the Geico
Gecko/Allstate will pay out for Mexican mishaps, its illegal read
illegal for you NOT TO HAVE MEXICAN AUTOMOBILE insurance.
I would highly suggest that you go to your local AAA or if you
are in El Paso,TX the AAA (655 Sunland Park Dr # J3, El Paso,
TX - (915) 778-9521) and get it there. The last thing you need
is some greedy Mexican cop saying oh you do not have insurance
that is a 1 way ticket to jail or a 1000$ bribe whichever comes
first.
3. The main danger is that student who drive quick to school
(myself included) may sometimes run into a cop who will want
20-40 USD for minor ** like speeding/seat belt. That is the max
you should pay. But I suggest NOT BUYING A FLASHY vehicle and
bringing it into Juarez. My moto is the pooh poohier the car, the better,
as it does not attract attention.
4. The next main danger there is a nuissance of a man who runs the
Juarez campus. You are not allowed naming names, but needless
to say everyone in the administration from the head dean to professors
find this guy a pain in the you know where.
5. After you finsh class, go home to EL Paso. DO not hang around,
do not visit the city, if you want to have lunch do it in the day time.
I had a rule, as soon as dusk fell, I was outta there.
6. The Juarez campus is close to teh border, so its not very hard to get back to the US, but the daily lineups can be a nightmare depending when you cross, keep that in mind.
7. Downtown/West Juarez is dangerous, stay away.
Remember the key to how dangerous Juarez is depends on how much
you keep to your own. If you mind your own business in Juarez Juarez will
mind you.
