Hi, I just got the booklist for the first semester and I noticed that there is no required book for the History of Medicine class. Will the professor provide us with lecture notes or is it best to get the book? Thanx =)

From the looks of the Block schedule, it appears they are changing the format from a semester long course to one that only spans one month for Hx of Medicine. If there is no required book on the list, the I would suspect that all required notes will be provided to you. Save your money at this point. Then again, there are probably a bunch of 3rd semesters-to-be that want to get rid of theirs if you must absolutely have the Porter textbook!:D

Hi akka4lyf,

When I visited SXM, several people warned me not to buy this book since it was according to them a waste of money and not needed at all in class. I don't think I'll buy it unless I can find it for a couple of bucks.

Roy McAvoy has got it for 5$, can't go wrong at that price!

I didn't buy it. I did good on the first test and hopefully on the final (we took it today). All the info on the tests came from her notes.

Just know the author. hehe
