Does anyone know if a physician is eligible for licensure in Tx after primary care/internal med internship completion? If so, would the license obtained be restricted or unrestricted?

Thanks for any assistance.

Do a search for "texas" AND "license" and you should find plenty of info. Also, The Texas State Medical Board has a good website, and chapter 163 explains the licensing rules.

Texas is not accepting Ross grads. They have posted on their website a list of countries which they will not accept. Regardless of being board certified you can't get a license. They accept you for resident training permits but they don't think we are okay for permanent licensure. It is a total farce. This issue will become much larger with Lawsuits from several Universities and with the involvement of the AMA and other organizations that are researching this. The fact is that there are too many well qualified physicians from the Caribbean and other countries that are in fact better than a lot of US grads. There are a few people on the board that are simply prejudiced and short sighted. Things will change in due time.
