I've been reading these boards for a number of months as I'll be joining the Saba crew in September. I haven't yet heard of where it is people buy groceries. Is there a grocery store that everyone uses? Is there any sort of market where fresh produce can be purchased? Are there fishermen who will sell to you righ off the docks? Are prices reasonable or at least comparable? Thanks for you info.

There are two main "grocery stores" on the island, and several smaller stores. The largest is called Big Rock in Windwardside and is like a very well stocked country store or convenience store (about the size of a large convenience store). The other in the Bottom is called My Place and offers different items. The prices depend on where you are from. People from the south like me noticed a large difference in price. Canadians, Californians, New Yorkers most often note little to no difference in price. The fishermen will sell lobsters from the dock, but no fish. They take their fish to St Marten to sell. Lobsters are cheap, however. Produce comes in once a week on the boat from St Marten. I cannot remember which day that is anymore; I am sure someone will answer that. If yiou want fresh produce, you need to go shopping on that day as the decent stuff sells fast.
Good luck!

If you want fresh produce, you have to go to the grocery stores on Thursday. That's when the boat comes in. My Store is in the Bottom, Big Rock is in Windwardside. Sometimes you have to go to more than one store to find what you're looking for. There's also a store in Windwardside called JR's that has a variety of non-perishable items, and they deliver for free (great for those of us without cars!)

As far as prices go, I haven't noticed much of an increase from the states. It's not nearly as bad as everyone makes it out to be (at least for food items.)
