Many of the books are available used on orientation day. Also contacting the housing director on campus will probably give you a list of books available for when you arrive.

Don't buy any books until you get here. They are dirt cheap and you can buy the ones you really need. As an example, I couldn't give my Grant's dissector away, that is how useless it is. But if you want to spend $44.96 on something you won't use and won't be able to sell afterward, be my guest. By the way, most books that you actually do need, like Netters, you can pick up for $10-$15, depending on the condition. Most semesters I spent about $30 for all my books. FYI

So I can buy all the used books from previous 1st semester students on the island when I get there? What if I can't find someone selling?

Find one of the upper semesters, they will have the pdf version. Even the netters textbook has a computer version. If not, there are always copies in the library.
Don't waste the money on books.

Are there any book stores that sell the books new if I need them new on the island?

The fast answer is NO! there are no book stores on island at all. But listen to the others - books are always available from other students and th library.
