I don't see that you have any other choice except to buy the meal plan for 1st semester, since you can't cook in the dorm and you don't have any pot or pan. Currently, the price for 30 meals is $225 USD. So, if you eat 3 times a day, that meal plan will last for 10 days.

I wouldn't go with a meal plan. Everyone uses a hotplate in the dorms - just stick with that. If you are shipping then ship a lot of ready to make things like noodles etc. Sandwiches are also easy to make. George's by the Dorms is pretty good too. Meal plan is no doubt expensive and sometimes you don't even utilize it fully with sides etc. Best is to pay for what you get and when you want. Good luck!!

i survived the semester just by eating sandwhiches, noodles, microwave foods, can foods, salads, fruits, lots of mac n cheese etc. you can go to the market here to buy groceries. there is a fridge in the dorms and a microwave. i didnt even use a hot plate. when i want fresh cooked food is the only time i go to the cafeteria. i think you will be fine without a meal plan. its very doable.

As is my understanding, you want to ship food to the campus since the island has limited selection that you may not like and prices may be a bit higher. But I really don't know.

George's is next door to Rawlins but if you are @ Potworks - thats even better since you get a cooking range and sink and can cook your own food. Actually 2 chinese restaurants also do delivery + 1 wendy's also does delivery now.
PS - Wendy's is not the North American food chain. The lady who runs it is Wendy.
Don't stress too much about food, you will survive for sure!! Good luck!:)
