Are you currently a student at Sint Eustatius?
I have not heard anything regarding tution going up at all..,
If the tution does go up, its really going to hurt the school becuase of the loan situation right now... A lot of students here are having trouble with loan... some are going to take terms off and some are transfering out to Windsor.. and other places because its cheaper...,

Me too.. I highly doubt it... Last year, they stopped the "books included in the tution" thing.. I really don't think they will make another change that soon...,

LOL, I don't think so. That would be a 65% increase.

I too got my bill yesterday.. but I was talking about tuition increase for the January term and onwards, not for september.
I tried calling the offices.. but only reached voice mail. Hopefully they are just rumors and have no validity.

I telephoned the NY office about a possible tuition increase. I was told that the admin is looking at a possible small increase, which would not go into effect until 2009 (if it goes forward at all).

So it seems the rumors are true then. Hopefully Not a dramatic increase. Maybe like a $1000 or $1500 per term would not be that bad.

Really hope it won't go up..,
I know several... around 5ish students are transferrring out because of the LOAN situation.., if the tution goes out..., more students will be transferring out too... then less student... more more tution increase to make up the missing student's tution... suppply demand....
sigh.

Where did they transfer to? Is transferring out that easy?

Some to Windsor, Trinity, St. James, Xavier.. etc.. School can't stop anyone from transferring... so I guess you can say it is that easy., Yes... if the school they are transfering to requires them to repeat... believe me, they still want to transfer becuase tution is cheaper there..,

I dont see why they even would do that, we have a huge loan crisis and they want to increase tuition. I dont too much about marketing, but that seems really stupid to me.

You and I are in agreement on this topic. I can not fathom why a school would increase tuition when they can't offer their students the right FA package that they need to stay in school.

Even if they do decide to raise it.. it would suck for the students who are starting in January term. Some of them deferred until January from September. Now they have to come up with more financial resources.

Yea.. somebody called the NY offices and they said, they MIGHT increase tuition Slightly.
It is just an initiative.. so it is not final yet. I bet if u complain ahead of time, they might even listen.

Maybe I will try that, b/c I'm probably going to be one of the ones who will defer until January.

I emailed CF and she said she has not heard of this, and if this does happens, all student will be informed.
Where did this info come from?

Well..I was originally notified by a student who is already there on the island about this. Then I posted it here. Then one of the members called the NY office and he posted that They are thinking about raising but have not decided yet. I don't know who it was.. but if u read the first page of this thread you will see his response.

The school is a business. Businesses are always 'thinking' about raising prices...And thinking about what it will do to the bottom line.
Right now, raising tuition would most likely not help the schools bottom line.

I heard that there might be an increase in 2009, but a small percentage to cover increases in operating costs. I may be wrong, but I think SE was one of the few schools that did not increase tuition from 2007 to present. Other schools have had at least 1 increase, maybe 2 in that time. I don't think they are trying to make up for lost students if it is a small increase. Maybe just bad timing from our point of view.

Well they need to take in account the survival of the school before they make any changes. That's all I have to say.

Did you guys even know that the electircal bill increased $600 ish last month due to the new cafeteria and the school is not even charging them at all! Not even for the space. So those couple down there are making mad money w/o having to pay for electricity bill or rent.
Got it from an extremely reliable source.

You are right. I have also been informed about this. However, I think its because the couple have spent so much time effort and money to built the whole thing. I guess that might be the reason for school not to charge them. But i think school probably will charge after they have made enough to cover all the money they have spent. But that's just my guess.....

when the tuition increases, it usually goes up by about $200-$300. i think i've had two tuition increases since i started, but it's been holding steady for a year+ now.
