Hi Guys,
I was told there is a Cost-u-Less (kinda like Costco/Price Club) on St. Maarten. I know of some past students who went there, bought a bunch of stuff and shipped it over to Saba on the ferry but I wanted to see if anyone is still doing this? Is the store still there? Where exactly is the store on St. Maarten?
Thanks in advance!

^if i could do this, then i would. its a great idea.
some of my classmates bought all their stuff from cost u less and took the dawn 2...it avoided carrying stuff from home and luggage costs. plus, some of the things are really cheap in st maarten.
its a good money saving strategy. i would recommend buying an ergonomic office chair for your room from st maarten (as it is impossible to bring one from home); especially, if you are planning to study at your home instead of the library [library doesnt have office chairs either]. its well worth the investment, and you will have NO trouble selling them when you leave after 5th.
im pretty sure that it still exists. however, i dont know where exactly is it located - any taxi driver will take you there though or you can just ask for directions, etc.

For anyone who is interested I have the address for the Cost U Less in St. Maarten.
Cost-U-Less - Sint Maarten
#72 Bush Rd.
Sint Maarten, N.A.
Phone:011-5995-429860
Fax:011-5995-429861
Does anyone know if the store will package your stuff together - kind of in a palette or something?
Aside from large items that are already in a box (like an office chair) do students just bring extra luggage and pack their stuff in that?

^nah, i dont think you need to bring extra luggage to put the stuff from cost u less and then take the dawn. you can put all the stuff in big boxes and then take it to dawn 2, they will transport it.
i wouldnt go for a pallete as the taxis on the saba will be packed with students and luggage when dawn 2 arrives, and there is no way they can fit a pallete...most of the taxis are minivans and they have a small trunk.
are you planning to just ship the stuff with dawn 2 and take winair?

I went to AUC on St. Maarten and I went to Cost-U-Less aka costUmore a bunch of times. In fact, you might get better info by posting this request on the AUC forum, but if you have any questions about what you can get there, or anywhere else on St. Maarten, just send me a PM. You can also ask Dr. W - immuno. and Dr L - path, as they also go to Cost-U-Less.

I been once there, and the selection was not very large, also the prices were much higher that in usa. In today's days I guess is the only solution. They have a site, with contacts, so you can ask ahead of time. Costuless.com

i have seen people buying huge amounts of stuff to send to other items. they were being placed on palettes and shrink wrapped. it might have been through some a shipping company though.
to mdexplorer....of course the prices are higher and the selection is not as good. st maarten is an island just like saba
