Hey all, I just wanted to try and pinpoint where the Edge departs from in simpson bay. I know its the pelican marina but where precisely is it on this image?

Please use the pelican resort marker as a reference point.

Also if I want, to stay at the pelican resort over night (to get the Edge in the morning) its going to be like $110. Any recommendations for cheaper hotels that are in walking distance of the depart point? Thanks!

dawn 2 leaves st. maarten from the simpson's dock behind chesterfield's restaurant. Simpson's bay is a HUGE area, you have to specifically tell the taxi cab driver to go to the place BEHIND CHESTERFIELD restaurant.
there are no good lodging places nearby for you to stay overnight and then drag your luggage. its not right at the bay, its a small dock behind this restaurant, and a shipyard and a shell gas station are around the corner.
Your best bet is to stay at a decent hotel overnight (i doubt that it will be less than a 100 bux/ night as SXM is ridiculously expensive for hotels - Turtle Inn is good or you can try Saba Torquoise shell. Maho is overrated and incredibly expensive). Then take a taxi cab to the dock 1 hour before you are scheduled to leave and voila! you are in SABA after 2 hours of greulling ride.

Sorry my mistake. I meant the Edge. My apologies. I was initially going to take the Dawn 2 but I was uncertain I would make it so I decided to stay overnight and take the Edge in the morning.

Right above the thumbtack, just after the beach makes a turn to the right, you'll see a dock that sticks out into the bay with a bit that sticks out to the left at the end of it. That's where the Edge docks when it's onloading/offloading passengers. It's about 3-4 'thumbtack' lengths directly above the tack. From th eupper-right corner of your tack, draw a line straight up until you hit the water. That's the dock.

I thought I replied to that... you have the right thing but the wrong model. They have one on that site for a 3-prong connection. Take a look.

Or am I thinking of the wrong question?

No thanks thats what I wanted to know. Either that or I would have to get a 2 prong to 3 prong adapter.

How safe Dawn II or Edge are for traveling with children? I heard people getting seasick because of the speed. Thanks.

Hi - email me and I will tell you what I know. Certainly children ride on both boats all of the time.

On the Edge, you will not get as seasick, it does not go and up and down as much with the waves as the Dawn II does. Also even if you do get seasick, the Edge gets you to St. Maarten in a shorter period of time so your time for being sick is also less. Downside of the Edge is that you probably will not be able to get a flight out of St. Maarten that day. With the Dawn II, if you take the morning time, then you can make most flights leaving St. Maarten thereby saving yourself considerable amount of money in hotel costs.

Parents take their children on Dawn? God (or social services) help their souls.
