I got an email saying I was selected to be a group leader for 5/6th term hospital visits. There would be an orientation at the general hospital for us. What exactly is the role of the group leader?

Congrats! Whatever the role, I'm sure there are some perks.

lol, how long have you been going to SGU?? your "perks" are probably extra work with no additional benefit...

"Group Leader" is code for increased responsibility and same pay all over the world

So am I to assume that this is a new thing that they instituted for this term? Being a group leader with increased responsibility and no added benefits at a Grenadian hospital is a dubious honor which I'm inclined to decline. It's along the same lines of joining IEA when nobody outside of the Carib knows or even cares about this "honor society", but you still have to do service hours as a member. No thanks.

sounds about right, lol yeah, if they give you the option to opt out, try to. Just a hint though, don't tell them that you just don't want to do it, give them an excuse, ANY excuse, like you're already busy volunteering somewhere else on the island, or something to that effect and you don't have time to add on extra responsibility.

you know there will be those over-achievers who will volunteer to do this just so they can put this on their CV and on their apps for residency

Something tells me that if you accept their offer and please them with your work, it may help when it comes to how SGU assigns your rotations.

please someone at SGU?? have them take notice and make your life easier?? never gonna happen...the people who half-a** their way through mandatory lectures or even those who neglect to show up will get the same treatment and same grades as the over-achievers who show up 30 min early to everything and stay late to ask questions. People will find their own way around the hospital with or without someone's help, and if they're late, won't really matter anyways.
