Ive heard from podiatrists and optometrists that recently insurance companies have been paying them considerably less money. Im told that without the MD, insurance companies will not value your degree will get away with paying considerably less. Is this true for DOs too? Does this depends more on specialization?

MD=DO for insurance purposes. optometrists, podiatrists, chiros, etc are on an entirely different food chain.
MD and DO are paid the same because we bill the same codes......now how much you actually get reimbursed will depend on the contract that you sign with an insurance company but that has nothing to do with being MD or DO.
and yes it is HIGHLY dependant on specialty. me as on obgyn will do surgery and far more procedures than a pediatrician or an internist who do more primary care. rule of thumb is more procedures or more risky procedures=more pay so a neurosurgeon will get paid way more than i will.
