So I guess this thread is for those that were shafted/hustled by the old #$%#$!@

I was talking with a class mate and neither of us know what the protocol is for Clinical rotations.

Is there a uniform for men? Shirt/Tie/dress pants?? Do we need scrubs or a white coat? - Where do you get the white coat from via the internet??

There was also question about length as some say its a waist length jacket, is that true? Also, what "tools" will we need during rotations...steth? any other tools?

I know these might be basic questions, but just hope they can be cleared up.

Sorry I was too busy getting mad about the whole lab coat thing.

You will need a short white coat. Long coats are for Docs..professional dress. (shirt and tie) no this is not a fashion show. So keep it clean and simple..no loud ties or baggy pants. You can buy your scrubs and coats online..just do a Google search. And its time you bought a steth...again you just need a simple one. Littmann is a safe choice.

Few sites for coats...

Nursing Scrubs and Medical Uniforms (http://www.scrubsgallery.com/)

Nursing Scrubs - Nursing Uniforms & Medical Supplies at AllHeart.com (http://www.allheart.com/index.html)

Books :

Pocket Bates + Maxwell Quick Medical Reference (MUST HAVE)

(Pick one)

Boards and Wards

or

First aid for the Wards

or

Blueprints series...

so we need scrubs BEFORE we enter the hospital rotations or will the hospital issue/sell them when needed??

also, with the white coats, I notice some people with names on theirs and others just wear blank ones...is it preferred to have one or the other??
