It's extremely difficult at this time. Texas has grown very xenophobic towards anyone who does not graduate from a Texas medical school, and especially toward IMGs. The reasons are political, but I won't speculate too much about those reasons here.

If you have your heart set on Texas, you have to really watch out. For instance, you must do ALL of your clinical rotations in ACGME greenbook teaching hospitals, including all your electives. From speaking with Saba students who have been there and done that, this is not a problem with Saba if you are flexible and willing to travel around the country during clinicals, and stay focused on getting greenbook.

This is not the only obstacle, there is more too it. If you go to the Texas Medical Board Website at http://www.tsbme.state.tx.us/rules/mpa/mpa.htm you can read for yourself what the rules are.
IMHO, even though I'm a Texan, if Texas feels that way about me as an IMG, who needs 'em? Besides, Texas has high malpractice insurance rates. 8)

A few months back, Texas came up with a new rule to keep out IMGs. Unless the school has been approved by California (Saba, of course, has not) you cannot be approved for licensure in Texas.

Saba is supposed to get a visit from California in May, but last I heard, they do not actually have the funding approved to make the visit. So, who knows when they'll actually get down here and how long the approval process will take.
