Hello

I'm interested to know what is the acceptance rate for IUHS for students without an MCAT score? Is there current students or anyone who got into the program without the MCAT? and what's the GPA like? Thank you.

The perfect question for the Communications Officer.

IUHS requires an MCAT from only a small minority of all applicants. Remember we have applicants from around the world to the various IUHS campuses and who come from many educational systems. Thus, we do not have compiled data to answer the question. For the North American based applicants, we will occasionally require an applicant to take the MCAT for several reasons (such as, if their profile is “non-traditional”).
It is also impossible to give a single answer for the GPA question. Within an applicant pool for any given campus there are a variety backgrounds that are not easily combined and compiled to generate a single GPA reference point. For example, from the North American based applicants IUHS attracts people from many fields, mostly health care, as well as a few BSc or BA pre-med undergrad types. Transcripts/GPAs cannot be grouped across the many programs. IUHS requires successful performance in pre-requisites that would make the applicant warrant review at any medical school given their overall profile.

Don't go or fall for this school. It is a scam. Please any school you go to, first research and then go.

Even if you fall for some wrong school. Obviously you will lose money but you could also endanger yourself by going to these non-safe countries

Non-safe countries? You have never been to certain areas of Los Angeles or Dallas, or Detroit. I would not say St. Kitts is perfect, but no place is.

In terms of the school, very low tier, hardly a scam, they do have some licensed grads in the US as well as they have residents. HOWEVER I do not recommend it either because of the very limited options at the time of licensing. People get what they pay for, and for those who got licensed, it worked out, for others it may not.

Why do you feel Windsor is failing you on purpose? To involuntarily eliminate you from the school? Do you feel they are failing you on purpose or you are not able to handle the curriculum? How were your science pre-requisite grades prior to going to Windsor?

Perhaps :) Actually as long as you passed your pre-reqs, and obtained over 2.5 GPA, you are in pretty much all of offshore medical schools.
The main diff is the MCAT with these schools and the top 3 like SGU & AUC they require over 2.75 GPA and an average MCAT.

I don't know about SGU, maybe 25 years ago they would admit you with 2.75, I am sure it is way, way above that.

I doubt it,

Most can get into a US DO program or even some Med programs with 3.25-3.5, even with low to avg MCAT scores.

The Caribbean Med schools were made for those with 2.5-3.25 range GPA, with low MCAT score....been around for long time to see it over and over again :)

This is why these schools HEAVILY advertise, and spend a small fortune on recruiters, brochures, mailers, open houses etc.

Cheers :)

Somewhat agree, SGU is definitely an outlier, you need pretty good grades for them

i know of somebody that was rejected at sgu, but accepted at a DO school.

True, he probably didn't want to go to SGU, because he got into a US medical school (DO).

Most of the residents I rotated with had an average of 3.25-3.5 and average MCAT score, and got into a DO /LCME program.

I'm willing to bet, if SGU or any of the other CARICOM med school published a true survey, the average admitted student is between 2.75-3.25.

The reason SGU and Ross U, SMU et al. offer "scholarships" for students with GPA over 3.0, is to boost their admission average.

Point is, that all the Carib MD programs, except for few are just bad and ugly pirates, the Dirty dozen as I call them.... that will accept you, take your $$$, admit you for bare minimum.

When I enrolled there weren't many offshore med schools as there are now....the "Boom" started in 2000 I believe, since 2000 I've seen a HUGE growth in the #s of offshore medical school, hence ValueMD etc....
Now we are begining to see the CRASH stage...as some are starting to close doors, and prospective MDs are aware of the HIGH risk of getting an offshore MD....10% chance of getting into residency, while you have to spend 200K and 4 years of your life.....TOO RISKY if you ask me....

Cheers :)

You make no sense at all. You attended a foreign medical school that is not one of the top 4 even. You couldnt even cut it for SABA. i am kind of confused if you really went to any medical school and if you are actually a Doctor.....I am really skeptical cause if you did it i bet even some monkeys in the rain forest of St.Kitts could get an MD and start a residency. Please show some optimism for a change. every forum i go into you are complaining and bashing people for trying to chase a dream. There are little kids that play basketball all day that have hopes of joining the NBA. The odds of making it are far far less than becoming a doctor from a Offshore Schoo. I bet you would tell that kid stop wasting your time dont play you will never make it.........I hope you dont have any kids because you will just tell them dont work hard its pointless you will never make it anywhere cause such and Blah Blah Blah..........I hope you one day realize that many of the things you are saying have a huge impact on the way people live, act, work and socialize with others. Please improve yourself. The problem you are showing is not from what others are doing it lyes far deeper as a problem with your past. Please search and find your solution !!!

His message comes across to me as one that says to do their due diligence before investing $200,000 USD. Sounds reasonable to me. :violin:

Exactly, Thank you !

200K and 4 years of your life, is much to sacrifice these days, for something that is not guaranteed !!

contact ECFMG, and you will see that only 10% of the IMGs from CARICOM obtained residency in the past 5 years, that should be a reg flag !!!

You may or may not get residency, depends on your board scores and your medical school's education.

I'm just telling you to think TWICE, I revise that...think 10X before enrolling at an offshore medical school.

I can attest to everything that I post, and you can PM for verification, I got matched 3 YEARS after my graduation !!! with good board scores over 200 per step !!! I applied to over 200 spots, and got matched in FM not my top choice...but, still a match...during the 3 years I did a research fellowship and completed a Masters in Public Health, all to increase my chances of matching....I was in HUGE debt, and family to support....I've heard of horrific stories of Alumni from my school and others that still owe over 200K in loans and were not matched even after passing their boards !!!

Cheers and good luck !!
