What is the difference? Also, can you use the health insurance you have from Canada to cover you while in any of the Carribean islands?

thanks for replying, im a permanent resident here in america, single and age 22. what do you think? i just want the cheapest coverage or low premium. any suggestion?

Most basic insurance policies do not cover for medical expenses you may use abroad. From what I understand, you specifically have to add it to your coverage - and it's not cheap.

In your admission packets, you should have gotten information on a policy that most Saba students use. If you didn't get it - they will bring it up to you during orientation. It's pretty cheap. I think I paid for two semesters and it was $200-$300ish. (Can't remember exactly). It basically just covers your med emergency evac if you need to leave the island. Once you're stateside/Canadian-side, your regular policy would cover you as usual.

do you mean that you can go to the island without medical insurance? can you just get that emer.med evac once you get there or they require you to get a full health coverage? thanks for replying.

It is required to get full health coverage. But after the first semester, I noticed they don't enforce it or follow-up on it or notice if you don't have it anymore.

True! I forgot that they supposedly require you to have it. I only had it for a a few semesters. Ooooops !!!

I personally didn't have any other insurance other than the one Saba "required."

I am not so sure it's wise to take that chance... But oh well! :P

but once you sign up for it,dont you have to maintain it for a year? im just concerned that when its time to graduate (if I graduate), they might bring that up that i didnt get the insurance in my remaining semesters. I was actually hoping for some more insurance options but I thing I would just have to get that $100 a month insurance offered by saba if I didnt find anything else.
