Is Florida a difficult state to get licensed as an IMG? Is it difficult for IMGs to practice there? I have heard there are some rather strange rules regarding IMGs in Florida. Is it better to go to a US DO program if I want to practice Family Medicine/Pediatrics in Florida? I am considering several Caribbean schools and a couple of Osteopathic programs.

if you don't ever plan on doing international missions, and don't care about the D.O. stigma, you can practice in florida and all other states for that matter.

Obtaining a Florida license for an FMG is more complicated then most other states. If you are a USFMG in addition to the usual paperwork and letters from every hospital you rotated as a student, you must provide transcripts showing you have completed Pre-med courses including anatomy (this was as of last year) It also takes almost a year.
