Any recomendations/suggestions on which to choose? Quite a difference in money but a lot more ammenities and closer to school at Lagoon View. Would like to hear from anyone who is past or current tenant at either place. Thanks!

Make sure you see pictures of the Cote d'azur place. I looked at two apartments over there last break and they were both pretty gross. One of them had a "kitchen" consisting of two rusty burners (only one was functional), a mini fridge that looked like it had been dropped off the balcony, and a microwave with a dial timer. From what I understand, the apartments are very different condition-wise because the landlord is in charge of taking care of it, so it's possible that the one you are looking into is a nice place.

At Cote d azur, each unit is privately owned. When I was on the island, I had a beautiful unit complete with washer and dryer for $800 a month (a year ago). One unit will look absolutely immaculate and the unit next door will look like a chicken coop. It all depends on whether it had been remodeled or not. Good luck.

My best friend lived in Lagoon View. It's kind of pricey and it's managed by solutions, but it is not that far from school. Honestly, if you're not going to use the elevator, Rising Sun is much more affordable.

i like lagoon view b/c it has their own washer in each apt. only a about 4 units per floor share a dryer.

Cote Dazure has comes as marina and residence. In the residence, the 3rd floor has a loft with a bedroom while the first floor is everything else; its quite convenient but definitely either you or someone you know must look at the place first

Be ready to sweat your rear end off at Lagoon view, unless you want to hole up in the bedroom and rack up an obscene electric bill. We only run the A/C to sleep at night. The apartment is not air conditioned, only the bedroom.
Dryer on every floor is nice, but our floor's dryer never worked right (took 3 hours at a mimimum to dry a load) and recently the heater broke on it so now I have to use the dryer a floor below. This turned out to be a blessing as it's actually a newer one and dries a load in one cycle.
The elevator is broken and has been since near the end of LAST semester. I had to carry my wife's 70 freaking pound 29" check-in luggage up the stairs. Also makes bringing heavy groceries up fun too.
The internet does work well here. We pay for the slowest speed from Caribserve and it works well. Sometimes I have to pause lengthy videos/shows online to let them load for a few minutes to watch uninterrupted, but that's it.
Refrigerators in the single bedroom apartments are ridiculously small. Hope you like shopping for groceries frequently. Also the space issue is made worse by the lack of A/C. You have to put things like bread in the fridge or they will go bad before you finish them because of the extreme heat. I suppose you could leave your windows open all the time, I notice a lot of people do, but the gigantic cockroaches I see when it take my trash out late at night nixed that idea for me. These suckers coudn't fit into a roach motel to get killed. Too bad the cats don't eat them instead of dumpster diving.
It is nice to have a security guy around most nights and not worry about our P.O.S. car getting stolen. Seem freindly although a bit shy, I've greeted him a few times on my late night AM trash runs.
The woman who works in the office seems friendly enough. Haven't had much interaction.
Generator is nice too for the power outages. Only twice this year have they failed to fill it back up, luckily both times when I wasn't here.
It is what it is. If you want to live next door to the school, you get to pay 4 figures a month for a hovel that U.S. welfare recipients and food stamp users would scoff at.
The decent internet speed, the $$$ I spent on a decent flat screen, and at least having A/C in the bedroom and being able to sleep without sweating make it bearable. In fact, after the initial suck factor of having to leave the U.S. wore off, time has flown by in recent months.
The safety factor of a close walk to school for the SO and a faux security guard are worth some of the less than satisfactory amenities.
Also the built in desks are in the bedroom, so that's nice for the SO. She can turn on the A/C for a few minutes if it gets a bit hot during study.

Boosted c5 - thanks for the info. I'm from FL so used to the heat, nice to have AC in the bedroom, tho. You mentioned Internet from Caribserve - does the campus have wireless? Is Lagoon close enough to pick up on the campus wireless or not? Nice to hear there is a generator - I didn't know that. I asked Solutions about an elevator in an email - they said it had one but didn't mention that it does not work. :) Guess it's all part of the sacrifice to live in paradise. I just sent in my $ and signed the lease for Lagoon View so I'll be there mid-August. Thanks to everyone for all of the great information.

Bubbles 36 - I'm from Sarasota - just South of Tampa Bay about 45 minutes. Where are you coming from? I'll be there with my parents on Aug 16th to move in and get settled. They will be there for 2 weeks with me so I'll get to sponge off of dad for a little while longer! :)

Can't get the school's signal.
I also come from Florida - Jacksonville.
Also, my spouse is the med student and I am not a beach or gambling kind of guy, so I spend A LOT of time in the apartment.
The heat and lack of quality red meat and junk food have led to weight loss and feeling a lot healthier on a positive note. Now when I go back to the U.S. I can barely stand fast food or eating out at places like Fridays or Applebees.
It's only a little over a year and a half anyway.
If you walk by a scruffy guy who looks like the classic case of angry white male when you get here, that's me. ;)
