Hi. My hospital requires you to take Step 3 by April 2009 for first year residents. I looked at the NYS licensing requirements and you need at least one year training before they will license you? Does anyone have any information on Step 3, how you register, and what the requirements are besides and ECFMG certificate? Thanks!

you have to register with the NBME and register with a state to take it. I registered with CT because they do not require anything. You can take the test anywhere, just need a state to approve you. You need to be ECFMG certified and have about $680 to take the test. However, once you register for the exam, you have 3 months to take it.

so you donīt need to take the step 3 in the state where you are doing your residency? Neither in the state where you want to practice in the future?
