ok so I am double majoring in biology and history (so far). i have completed all but 5 bio classes and I could get my bio degree in may of 09. my gpa till now is 2.889. MCAT=28. should i go through with the double major (adds an entire year to undergrad) or go ahead and apply to SGU in 2009? (i have shadowing experience, (infectious disease dept and transplant surgery) research experience (anatomy and cell biology), volunteering experience ( I wa a volunteer teacher for the peer health exchange. we taught underprivileged children about common diseases and illnesses) and I work at a hospital for 4 years). I have rec letters from my chem/bio professors, a MD, and the CEO of the hospital. what ya'll think?
(moderators, I know I have posted before, but no offense, I havent gotten many helpful answers. I don't know where else to turn. Please don't close my thread)

The reason you didn't get too many responses may be that people here can't help you, except wish you good luck. With a GPA less than 3 your chances are very low, unless you score 30+ on MCAT (then you may have a chance). Right now, your best chance is that you might be asked to take the Foundations To Medicine program. Your chances of getting into other Carib schools may be brighter.

Hey Seandubbers,
If I was in your shoes i'd finish off with my undergrad education (both majors)....one more year in the scheme of things is not that bad. SGU (along with all the other med. schools) will still be there when you're done. However, at the end of the day you must decide....if your soul searching leads you to want to apply for SGU 09' then do it.....I know this is not the answer you are looking for, but it's the only answer you will get here (all in different ways). I realize it's frustrating however, you know you better than anyone else therefore, you are the only one that can answer your question.
Goodluck!!

you need a degree to apply to sgu. if you can just get a b.s. or a b.a. in bio and not have anything on your transcript that you dropped from a double major to a single major then apply. having a second major won't help you that much, and you have a ton of extracurriculars so you might get in or be offered some alternative to getting in. if you can't just drop that other major then sgu will make you complete your degree(double major) before accepting you. I would drop it if you can don't waste your time with a useless degree.
