Does the selection committe look down on taking summer courses as an undergrad? If I were to take physics 1 and 2 in the summer is this a bad thing? Thank you.

why would they look down on it? i did take ochem III in the summer....i thought it was a mistake in the end because i didnt feel like i learned the material as well in such a short period of time. it was a 10 week course compressed to 3 weeks.

if you can learn the material well enough to be able to do well on the mcat, then go for it. that would be my only concern

the pre med advisor said they look down on it. However, she also said my friend had no chance of getting into an american school and he got into an ivy league med school.

then im sure you probably join myself and most other people on vmd when we say that premed advisors don't know ____. if i had listened to them, i'd probably still be at home, feeling sorry for myself instead of 29 days away from finishing basic sciences.

the most important thing is to learn that stuff and get a good grade in the course.

Ignore the advisors at your school and schedule classes the way you think they should be. Ultimately it is your education and your goals.

Heck, you're better off posting on here (like you did this time) about classes and you'll have differing view points but in the end, the consensus will the same as your gut feeling... which is nice to receive that kind of validation.

My general opinion of premed advisors is that I place them somewhere on the evolutionary ladder between ladybugs and hamsters.

You guys should read my post where an advisor said I couldnt get into med school b/c Im not a bio major.

Whenever I have a serious question I call up the assistant dean, and get a clear concise answer. I hate the red tape and crap.
