Would you like to see a ""Sticky" for AUC FAQ

Would you like to see a ""Sticky" for AUC FAQ's (relocation, cars, island life, pets, jobs, curriculum, etc...)?

Sticky should contain the following bits of info

1. Apartments and Dorms
2. Transporation-Buying, Leasing, Bringing your own, or not having one
3. Licenising
4. Things to bring with you
5. Book List
6. Email of important groups--spouse club and other
7. Cell Phones--Types that work and plans
8. Internet--Cost and companies
9. Cable Tv
10. And other crap that people usually ask about

If it is a sticky post about all these things:

1. It will be too long
2. It will have a few opinions, when what is needed for many of these subjects is MANY opinions.

I suggest not a sticky post with information on these subjects, but rather multiple links to other posts where these subjects have been covered many times. It would essentially consist of search results for the topics in question.

I heartily agree that something like this is needed.

I think it would probably be hard to keep the sticky current. I'm sure some questions newbies have (such as "can I get a residency" I know I asked that one") would be a good topic. If something was to change, someone would have to be responsible for changing the sticky. OTherwise, newbs would get the wrong information.

I also agree with trmedic on the value of different opinions.

Ya, it'll have a few things that get out of date, but 80% of the stuff has been discussed countless time and is pretty good for a few semesters. Plus, many of the people with some of the best answers and most exp on various topics no longer answer because they have done so so many times that don't feal like writing the same paragraph every two weeks.

The 'coming to the island portion" of the student handbook (that arrives at your former house 2 days before you fly down..) sucks. The info on this site is much more valuable and even if it is 6 months out of date, it still more current than most of the stuff in the handbook. (how many of us blew cash on a return flight we never used?...) We could always keep it open for people to add new opinions

Even if we started the thing from scratch tomorrow, most everyone would be willing to send in a good thought out answer on a few questions if they knew i'd be the last time they'd have to do it. (I mean that nicer than it sounds..)
