[b]Social Gathering!! April 30th[/b]

WantMD suggested a pretty good idea. On April 30th, our last friday before school begins, we(May Newbies), should have alittle get together at Sunset Bar, right near the aiport and Maho beach. Sunset is nice, really cool view of the planes coming in. 2 weeks ago I was hanging on the fence as a 747 took off and got beamed in the leg with a rock :shock: That left a mark!! But there is another bar called Cliffhangers that is walking distance from the school. It may be a better place for those who have no vehicle. Anyways, I think it would be great for the May class to have a little social get together before class starts. Hopefully if we are lucky some of the "old timers" could show up and share war stories. I think we can lore them there with the offer of beer. :D Even if you don't drink there are non alcoholic drinks there, it's more of a thing to meet new students and have a good time before we hit the books hard. Anyways let try to set something up. I', suggesting around 5 o'clock on April 30 at either Sunset or Cliffhangers(place to be decided very soon). See everyone soon!!

I agree with you BHall, this is an opportunity for everyone to mingle, so that when Monday comes around there will be many familiar faces in class instead of the intimidating stare of countless strangers :oops:

Well I was on the island March 28 through the 31st and it was open the night I stopped by. Nice little place overlooking the beach. But either place would be fine. We'll see how many replies we get, so that we can determine where to have it; either sunset or cliffhangers. I'll ask someone to check to make sure cliffhangers will be open.

We're not sure if we can make it, but size wise, Sunset Beach Bar has more room than Cliffhanger...that might be something to consider.

I would suggest the sunset beach bar. If anyone does not have a car at that time let me know I have a list of all the cars for sale from the students and can try to help you find one. I am sure if you have a sponsor they can also help out. If you do not ahve a sponsor let me know and we will get you one. Through the spouces group we have paired up new students with spouces to ask questions and help you with housing, cars, etc. Have fun and we look forward to meeting all of you. Enjoy that last night of freedom.

I agree that Sunset is a better place. It open and roomy. I'm sure there will be plenty of rides for everyone.

Geeky yes, but also funny. Or we can have name tags that say "Help! I'm a Newbie!!" NOT!!! That's a sure way to be abused by some 4 or 5th semester student. I think I'm going to send an email to student gov and see if they can spread the word and maybe have a fuction out there. No telling, but if I got to pay 200 bucks a semester for student gov, I'd like them to use my first 200 bucks toward beer for the Newbie get together :D

seriously i love anatomy i just hate the fascia and i like micro just not the busy work...when i am sitting there plating and gram staining i long for the hospital vaccum tube were you put in samples and a few hours later the results magically appear on your screen.....

As most of you know the Newbie Get Together is tomorrow 4/30 around 5pm at Sunset Bar. See Thread for more info. I wanted people to know that several students and myself are providing rides from school to Sunset Bar. If you are interested in going to Sunset and you live near school just walk to the front security gate around 4:30 and someone should be around. I told another person who offered rides to be there between 4:30 and 4:50. If you would like to offer and give rides please just go to school at that time and pick up students. I'm hoping we have a good turn out. I hope many from the forum show up and I look forward to meeting all of you. If you are in the Beacon Hill area pm me and I'll give you my number if you need a ride, that's the area in which I live.
