Sorry to be asking this question, but I did a search and didn't find an answer. But what is the currency people use down in SXM?

When people advise everyone to bring "cash", do you mean american dollars?

When people advise everyone to bring "cash", do you mean american dollars?

French side = Euros
Dutch side = Guilders/NAfs
Both sides = US Dollars

USD is accepted everywhere. None of us go through the hassle of exchanging currency, although the ATMs on the dutch side give you the option of USD or NAfs. Just beware of the conversion rates so you don't get ripped off. Currently, it's 1.8 NAf per US Dollar and 1.3 US Dollars for 1 Euro.

some places on the french side will sell products for

$1.00 = 1 Euro

Not all places...but ask around.
