I'm a current European student at SGU.
1.Why the Caribbean ? (to go in the US, quickest pathway, non-uk citizen,...)
Well, I have a Bachelor of Science from a European University. I have lived both in the US and Europe and was looking for an International Medical School (about 4 years) that would let me practice in the U.S and U.K./Europe. MCAT's are very uncommon in Europe and my European Pre-med program was not the same as at US schools. SGU has different entrance requirements depending whether you went to an US school or a school outside the U.S. So SGU suited me very well. In addition, I enjoy getting to know and living in different countries and I love Grenada!!!
2. Why this Medschool ? Well, SGU offers many possible rotations. There are more clinical spots than students, I like the areas in the U.S and U.K. where SGU offers rotations and SGU has been around the longest. Before I decided to study at SGU I talked to Graduates who are now practicing in the U.S. and Europe and I asked them about their experience.
3. When did you start / when are you starting ?
I started this past January.
4. Your plan (specific residency, where,...)
I don't know what specific residency I would like to do, nor do I know where exactly yet, but as far as I know it easily possible to find residencies in the U.S. and many European countries because many European countries also use the USMLE as a standard/entrance requirement if you did not study in that country.
5. Other.... Where are you from ?
I'm Dutch/German/American
Hope this helps.
