Does anyone know if OB/Gyn Core at Caritas is ACGME approved by specialty? i searched on the acgme website, but i am not sure if this is the same one???
i searched New York state for OB/Gyn specialty and under New York Medical College (Brooklyn-Queens) Program [2203521183] it lists
Wyckoff Heights Medical Center - Participating Institution
Caritas Health Care (Brooklyn-Queens) - Participating Institution
Is this the same Caritas for OB/Gyn Core or another one?

I am pretty sure this place is Green Book. The rotation i did was alright. The environment makes you feel like you are in some ivy league school.

yes all rotations here are greenbook / ACGME accredited. Family, Psych, IM, Surg. Peds and OBGyn are at St. Johns (sister hospital to MIH... either way its Caritas)

How is the internal medicine core at Caritas (MIH/SJH)? Please tell me the quality of this rotation...
1) Patient contact experience
2) More time working up patient vs shadowing
3) Student to Faculty ratio
4) How many students per patient

I finished my internal at mary immaculate. This is just my experience.
1) Patient Contact - It's how much you want. A lot of it is self learning and practicing your physical. You can go in and check on your patient as many times as you want.
2) Working up Patient - At MIH there's a lot of things that don't necessarily get done when you put the order in. A lot of phone calls, running around, and just following through with what the attending wants.
3) Theres 3 floors, one teaching attending per floor, and about 8 students per floor.
4) Interns are maxed out at 12 patients. Sometimes my intern had 1 patient sometimes 10, but usually around 5-6. There are anywhere from 2-4 students per intern. I had between 1-3 patients at a given time. We can't write notes there so you just report to your intern on your patients status. We usually end up knowing more about the patient and the hospital course than anyone else.

Thanks, that sounds good. I'm doing medicine there this December. As long as there's plenty of opportunity to work up patients, I'll be content with the rotation. I've heard of some rotations in the East Coast where students end up just shadowing the whole time and I'm not cool with that. The only thing that sucks is that you cannot write notes on the patient's chart, but I guess I'll just have to make my own progress notes for learning purposes.
Has anyone done family med here? If so, what are the exact hours each day and is there time for Step 2 study? thanks!
