Please give me some feedback:
My GPA is 3.3 undergrad, science 2.9. My GPA fell drastically when I had to get a job a few semesters ago, I work 30+ hrs/wk. I have done some community service about 80 hrs in the last yr. I'm taking the MCAT Aug. 7th, which I have studied for all summer. I'm afriad I will be rejected from AUC and I know I cant get into any state schools. What's your opinions?

The earlier you apply for a Fall Semester, the better. If you apply while there is little competition you'll have a greater chance of being accepted.

I think you should apply as soon as you have completed all of the application requirements.

Just make sure to maintain your GPA and get a decent MCAT score. Also, make sure your personal statement gives the adcom a reason to beleive in you and your ability to make a great physician. This will give you a good chance for acceptance.

Don't worry about your stats too much. I was accepted for the Fall '08 semester with a cGPA and a sGPA lower than yours (MCAT 27, 9p,9b,9v)...but I was also given an interview.

Hope this helps.;)

Without your MCATs, it's difficult to give you guidance, but assuming you get between a 22-26, if it was me, I would try really hard to get my grades up in the fall and then apply.

If there is a way you can get extra financial aid or supplemental cash then try so that you can focus all of your attention on your studies and finish off strong.

Good luck

As for when to apply, I'd recommend applying sometime between January and March. Any of those should be fine as your August MCAT score will be in by then and you should more or less have a set application.

Also, start securing a couple of recommendations from Professors and either have them sent to your school's career center if they do that or to a distribution service like interfolio (?) or at least give your Professors the heads up that you will request a recommendation sometime early next year.

Good luck. :)

I took my MCAT in Aug 07, and applied as soon as I got my scores back, so sometime around late September or early October (for Fall 08). Keep in mind though, when you apply that early, it may take a while to get a decision. Mine took until mid December (without an interview) because they were still working on January and May applications.

take the mcat and let us know. and score really high on it if you want a good shot of getting in.

oh yeah, auc is based on a rolling admission, so the earlier the better.

Has AUC gotten much more competitive in the last few years? I thought someone with his guy's grades should have little difficulty getting accepted with a MCAT of, say, 25+... Is that no longer the case?

From what I hear (take that for what it's worth), all three of the "big 3" get more competitive each year. So these grades and a 25 MCAT would be around average. Maybe even a little below, but I could be wrong.

The early the better, I had similar stats and applied in mid june for fall 08, I had an interview 2 weeks after my app was turned in and all my documents were recieved. Score well on your MCAT and keep your grades up in the mean time....good luck.
