hey i sympathize. I really do. I have scars that still havent healed.
Most UCE grads dont even come here, they are still so furious and embarrased they attended la UCE. I have many colleagues who wont admit it!

You have choices, the internet, these USMLE programs, a library, AC, buildings,
a facsimilie of what looks like a real university.

being angry. Stop it! Anger will cloud your judgement and force you to make bad decisions. Maybe that is what is happening to you.
We were the first, we were excessively s-----t on all the time, every day.
Caonabo, Hazim, the office workers you name it made our time there scary, threatening, willy nilly, humiliating, demoralizing, extremely uncertain, embarassing, hopeless, helpless, you name it we suffered it
but anger wasnt productive.
i promise you, if you come at people with anger arrogance and threats, you will lose in the end. ALWAYS. Look at the world, look at the wars in 20 countries. Noone talks or tries to find out what is the basis of the rage and killing mentality as if everyone is just a savage born that way. Dominicans have not had your culture, your way of looking at the world. Yes profs there cant pass the USMLES, yes they are inferior in their knowledge and couldnt pass their own tests probably, but im trying to help you with your seemingly ongoing ( " they did this to me and that to me SYNDROME" )
take your own pulse. There are solutions to everything.
We made it. Hundreds of us had our pride severely hurt there.
We were mocked, ridiculed, and yes sometimes failed but we stood right back up and let me tell ya, got the F----k out of there and became big shot docs. I wont thank UCE for lots of things but i will for getting where i am today and what it allowed me to do with my own resources and
less anger than you seem to want us all to applaud. Channel the anger
into healthier venues. i think im right here. BUT like i always say

Hey losack can you tell us about anger management?
what can we do ourself at least to improve that, how is the therapy approach about it?

How can they free themself from the suffering of UCE wile they are there?

My friend graduated from UCE not too long ago. She warned me about a lot of the issues you mentioned (ever changing policies, "solicitous" staff, first class education, etc..). Made my decision not to go there sooo easy.

If you're going to study medicine in Spanish, there are many universities in DR from which to choose - INTEC, PUCCM, Nordestana, UNIBE. Not one of these schools is perfect, but every prospective student needs to investigate, ask around, read the numerous posts on this site, in order to find the "right fit." You need to minimize the level of stress and unnecessary ** that accompanies studying here in order to actually finish.

Yeah, my friend graduated from UCE, but she made sure I knew that just graduating is not enough... with effort and diligence one can graduate from any school.

All the things grinostudent said is true. Uce is nothing but a dominican mafia runned by dumb *** monkeys. Fake *** Doctor, diploma buying Josesito Hazim and the dumbest decano of medicne JW. Its sad to say that uce is not concerned about our education. All these idiots care about is money. They took money from us for the princeton review and did not give us shit. They took it out of our loans, they stole from us. Uce is a big ripp-off. They are nothing but a bunch of platano eating ladrones whos real future is to motoconchar.

All I can say is that the last week has been quite a frustration to students from UCE. UCE just crippled us heavily by basically insulting Naje eb with their ridiculous change of contract, even more so since Naj eeb has for that reason been teaching for free for the past 4 months, they were waiting for UCE to hold their part of the deal.
Najeeb even let me study for free for 1 month, thinking that UCE would pay with my Princeton money.
This has been by far the worst thing UCE has done in my consideration.
Why?
Because Najee ** is the best thing to ever have happened to this god-forsaken town.

Does anybody know if these clownfishes have a "better option" for us in the works? Are they kicking our good Doctor out to make room for a new program....that they will screw over in the near future? Im sure they are essentially kicking him out to use the Princeton room for some other purpose.

I graduated from UCE in october 2005. I agree that their first mission is your money. But then, the most important thing is : What is my mission?
I passed all USMLEs, first attempt, over 90 every one of them. My message is this: get the best from every experience; if you dislike your med school and don't wanna graduate from it just pass step 1 before internship year and transfer out( some med schools in PR would accept you)

Yeah I believe that there WAS a better deal in the works with a dude from PR who was going to give a repaso for the revalida, a joke of a course from what I've been told. I also heard that the revalida exam was recently suspended until 2010. Anybody out there that can verify this? The implications would be huge...no more chalking up your breakfast on a mirror boys; time to study for Step 1.

About that revalida thing.
In the past you could practice medicine in the USA with that, not anymore.
you MUST have the USMLE exams PASSED.
People that are already working are OK, but if a recent grad, goes get the revalida and do what ever else they have to do they cnONLY practice in PR not in the USA, unless they have the usmle exams passed.
Also in the main for. forum there is a thread about the big scandal with the revalida.

Many people with the revalida could work for some federal places not anymore.
At least that was the last I heard about that.
So if you(anyone) is planning to practice only PR take the revalida, if not start reading and preparing for the USMLE exams.

La UCE has gone above and beyond this time. Worse than when they charged me an entire semester because I couldnt withdraw in time because I was in the hospital, worse than when I got put on academic probation because of a teacher failing me 3 times w/ a 69, worse than when they failed me in 3 materias last semester for computer errors, worse than when they charged my wife a whole semester and wouldnt refund her money 3 days later when she had an emergency and had to go to the US, worse than making you stand in a line for 3 days only finally to get yelled at by a funcionally iliterate somebodys cousin, worse than when they failed my friend for missing a test when she was giving birth, worse than all the rest of the atrocities they have put the entire student body through in the past years. Worse than all of that.
After I dont know how many months of telling the students that paid for the Princeton Review and never recieved anything that they would use that money to pay for ******s program, they have done an about face and refused to pay. This is after having the flyers put up, all over campus, with THE UNIVERSITY SEAL inviting everybody to come. This is OUR MONEY! ****** has been providing his world class instruction for nothing! La UCE was thinking that only 10-15 students would sign up, but 250 signed up. What does this mean? That these students wanted to learn! Why did we want to learn so bad? Because la UCE is a joke of a university run by a bunch of ninos ricos del pueblo, where you arent taught anything. Bunch of clowns that wouldnt be garbagemen in a meritocracy. Words cant express how pissed I am. Now everybody that was supposed to have ******s course paid for has to pay, mid- semester, for the rest of the year.
I was told about this when I came in to study this morning. Dr. ****** and his employees have been nothing but extremely caring and proffesional. They are going to stay around and hold up their end of the bargain until at least March. I'm so pissed. ******s was the only thing going keeping this university with some semblance of hope that at least some of us were being taught.
What can we do? Nothing we say or write to the administration will ahange anything. La UCE is the dominican mafia.


after having spent one semester there many years ago somehow I do not doubt a word you said. they asked me for 1 semesters tuition in addition to the transcript fee to obtain a transcript for the semester i'd already paid for. that was the official "last straw" i repeated the classes happily elsewhere thinking it is worth it not having to have anything more to do with uce in this lifetime.

to losack; you deserve a "purple heart" and "medal of honor' for having put up with all the crap and still learn.

to the person that makes an analogy to "dumb monkeys";

that is a disservice to monkeys
please do not insult monkeys with statements like that. monkeys are intelligent animals that function quite well and survive in hostile environments.
