if other aspects of your application are decent and you do well in the interview you will have a good chance of being accepted, i dont know about sept 08 though, your best shot may be jan 09 in my opinion. good luck.

do well in the interview, a bulk of the interview will be based on your personal statement so read it over and have it handy during the interview, also have some questions to ask your interviewer.

the next thing for you to think about is what you can do to become a better student so you can thrive and do well in medical school and the boards.

2.2 indicates that you either didnt try hard in college or were unable to try hard (ie personal/family problems)
27 contradicts your 2.2 and shows potential
id say if the rest of your application looks good you should have a chance
but like someone else said, i think sept 08 is fillin up quickly

It's what, $75 bucks and a simple application to find out...you can even do it all online.
If you have good LOR's you should be ok. Admin doesn't try to torture you, much.
As far as your chances, they are ZERO until you try.

for the record, everyone and their mom gets into USESOM, but not everyone makes it out. it could be viewed as money grubbing, and it could be viewed as giving people a chance. when i did my interview over the phone, i asked how i got in, and roland told me that two types of people get in, people who we know can make it, and people who we think we will give a chance because they do have some of promise. thus, this is why 70 people make it in per class and only 35 graduate. i think it's smart on the part of the school, financially it keeps them afloat and it helps out some of the students by giving them an opportunity that most other schools would not.

Hi, I have a similar proverbial "admission chances" question, and I really appreciate knowledgeable responses. I am a Canadian 4th year university student hopefully graduating Apr. 2009 with a B.S. in Life Science with minor in history. Currently my combined GPA is 2.9 (nearly 3 with the converted scale) and an MCAT score of 28. This final year is looking to be the best (knock on wood) and I am confident my total GPA will be over 3. My question is when I apply to Carribean Med schools, does any one think I will get in with my 2.9 GPA and MCAT score or do I have to wait to graduate and reapply with my hopefully higher GPA. Is this even an issue given the application calender to Carribean schools to hopefully start Sept. 09? Thanks a lot for replying!

(they are generally regarded as "better" schools, and they have federal loans)
by the way, love what you do; and love truely who you love...

yeah, if you can get into the big 3 or big 4, definitely go for it. their standards are up there with american schools as far as admissions. after that comes the other carib schools, and then there are a few at the very bottom of the totem pole. with your scores, you should be able to get into a US or high tier carib school. funny thing is, if you don't come from st. george, most hospitals won't care where you came from. in the carib circuit, we know which is good and which is bad, but most US residency programs don't. they do know which are really bad though. avoid those and go to statia. ;)
