I am scheduled to take my Step 1 on July 19th and have been killing myself studying these few months. I took the NBME (form 1) last month and made a 350...low but still ok with a month left to study. However I took the NBME form 3 today and made 320. How the heck did I make lower after studying so hard? Here's a rundown of what I've done:

1. Read my FA a few times.
2. Listened to Dr. G's lectures twice
3. Subscribed to USMLEWorld but couldn't finish all the questions due to my subscription expiring after a month.
4. Did the FA question book.
5. Read the Kaplan book for Pharm and Biochem.

So I pleading with Sree, Nic, and any others who've taken the Step1 and passed. Please tell me what to do!!! I can't delay any longer as I am almost tapped out of funds and won't have a place to stay soon.

I always tell people not to schedule their exam until they take an NBME, because I've spoken to dozens of people in your situation.

I think a 350 on the NBME corresponds to a three digit score of 175. In my opinion, it's too risky to take the test on July 19th. You should postpone it - if your testing window has expired, spend the 50 bucks and extend your testing window.

You should use the Kaplan lecture notes (and Goljan Notes) to hit the areas you missed on the NBME hard. Take another NBME a month from now and see the difference. But unless you score 15 points over passing on the NBME, don't take the test.

Thanks Sree,
I guess I need to reschedule and find a part time job in the meantime. This sucks. :(
