shipping to grenada

soooo...i need books shipped to grenada. any experiences? advice? thanks.

Here are your options:

1. Amerijet - takes somewhere between a few days to a possibly two weeks. The cost is usually around 0.50 per pound, with a minimum charge of $75 plus taxes, gas costs, and some other fees. You're looking to pay somewhere around $100-$150 for sending about 70-80lbs of stuff.

2. USPS - you can use the international flat rate priority mail box. This box allows you to stuff upto 20lbs into one of their flat rate boxes and mail that down for I believe $27. It takes somewhere between 10-14 business days.

3. Fedex - your most costly of the choices. An envelope costs about $20-30 based on its origin. Figuring out how much books would cost is...how do you say...a lot.

A fourth option - if you're not down here yet, bring a third piece of luggage if possible or overstuff your two pieces of luggage to the maxium allowed with a fee. Air Jamaica allows you to pay $50 per bag for going over 50lbs but below 70lbs. Depending on the AA flights, some of them sometimes let you pay extra sometimes they dont - depends on who you get and the time of year.

My experience with Amerijet is pretty good. My home town is Atlanta GA and Amerijet flies directly out of there to Grenada. I can get my stuff in like 5 days.

However you have to factor in the duties that you have to pay on stuff coming in. I paid like 100 EC (bout $30US) for a fifty lb box with some clothes I forgot, gloves, food, and books. I also paid the same for a small box with some documnets I needed along with some spray sunscreen I couldn't find in Grenada. So I think it just depends on the mood of the customs guy on the day you are there.
