couple of questions...

1) Are rotations organized in such a way where a group starts and finishes together? or are they staggered so when you start there will be others who have been there for a month or are about to leave?

2) do all rotations start during a particular time of the month? Early, mid, late?

3) is anyone starting a rotation in the beginning of September 08 anywhere? If so, which rotation/hospital?

4) Any concerns about the number of rotation spots as AUA's largest classes to date coming closer to starting clinicals?

5) How likely are back to back rotations? How flexible are the days off (if any) while you are rotating?

6) anyone from AUA able to set up their own rotations? I heard they will only let you set up one rotation on your own? is that true?

7)do electives have to be done after cores, or can you do them as you go/inbetween?

8) Any word on the Hatian Center authorizing rotations at Jackson Memorial in Miami for AUA? or has that rumor gone away too? Earlier this year Dr Metellus said they were in the final processes of getting spots, any new to date?

9) How far in advance will AUA schedule your rotations for?

Thank you for your time

1) Are rotations organized in such a way where a group starts and finishes together? or are they staggered so when you start there will be others who have been there for a month or are about to leave?

depends on the hospital, but in most cases, yes. psych at st. john's episcopal was the exception that i've seen.

2) do all rotations start during a particular time of the month? Early, mid, late?

depends on the hospital, but most start on the first monday or third monday of the month. electives usually start whenever, but preferably first monday or third monday.

4) Any concerns about the number of rotation spots as AUA's largest classes to date coming closer to starting clinicals?

you're going to be ok, make sure you schedule peds at wyckoff as soon as you get your step 1 score back - even if they offer you a 12 month wait.

5) How likely are back to back rotations? How flexible are the days off (if any) while you are rotating?

don't count on days off - anywhere.
back to back is possible if you schedule everything early

6) anyone from AUA able to set up their own rotations? I heard they will only let you set up one rotation on your own? is that true?

im on my second back to back rotation that ive set up on my own - ive had no problems. if you do run into problems let me know.

7)do electives have to be done after cores, or can you do them as you go/inbetween?

they SHOULD be done after cores, but if you're in a really desperate situation (like you end up with a 3 month break between cores), you should schedule an elective. but this is to your disadvantage for many reasons

9) How far in advance will AUA schedule your rotations for?

no idea what they do now, but try to schedule as far ahead as possible and call the office every 2 months to confirm that all the rotations you scheduled are still scheduled

Hey Sree: I saw on another thread you were talking about self scheduling electives, How did that go? Where are you doing them? And which electives did you do/are going to do, if you do not mind me asking?
