I was dismissed from Ross, and just want to express how much I miss the school and Dominica :( I have transferred to another school now, but oh how I wish I could return to Ross. The student body is amazing and they make that island one to cherish forever. I hope for a miracle everyday, one that lets me return...and forget all this as a bad dream.

That is so unfortunate that a student who actually has a positive outlook on Ross can not stay there...I say don't give up and appeal the living beans out of it.. It sounds like you, of all people should be able to graduate as a Ross-ian.
What was the reason for the dismissal? If you don't mind my asking..
Also, where did you transfer to? Again, only if you don't mind.
Best of luck!

care to disclose where you attend? From my understanding Ross is not exactly paradise compared to other schools.

Are you sure this is Ross and Dominica you are talking about. I still have a couple of friends from the island days but to say that the student body was amazing and made the campus great, in my experience, is an overstatement of epic proportions. Good luck though, I do commend your positivity

The grass is always greener on the other side. During clinicals Ross has a lot of good students, but I also dealt with some very lazy and negative fellow students as well who made the rotation more of a drag and gloomy than necessary. I think if they let you back in then in one year you would back to complaining about advisors who don't answer phone calls, etc . . .

I am totally agree with Gator98MD, the student body was not that amazing at all. Lots of immature student when I was in school at Ross.
To Sadbunny, I don't know what is your case but I had 1 Ross friend who couldn't pass Final Shelf exam 3 times, he had to come back to Ross to repeat 1 semester, then went on to clinical after he finally passed his shelf exam and step 1. He failed Step 1 and 2 each 3 times, and still found residency in IM . He was my upper classman for 2 semesters ahead and now he just start his PGY I while I finished my residency this month. I know he was very persistent with dismissal comittee when they wanted to dismissed him. May be you can try again. But anyway, goodluck to you. Going to another school is not the end of the world, the end result is the same if you pass USMLE and find residency.

yea...maybe it has gotten better since your friends left, or maybe it's just a different experience for different attendees. Who Knows!

I got pushed from Ross... and while I have some diffuse admiration and affection for the people there, it hasn't moved me to try for an appeal even once. That's me, I just don't want to go back to a place that pushed me out. At the same time, I think I understand where you're coming from... it's a little like grieving, no? All the effort, hopes and connections that could easily have been strong feel prematurely and cruelly severed...
But think how terrible it would be to land at a school you didn't like, after all this. Work to find a school that you can like as much you liked Ross, and go there. There are always options and opportunities, and they're always a mixed blessing.
And...Ross does not deserve your tears anymore than Starbucks does.
peace..

I kind of miss the island too. I decided to withdraw, got reinstated and withdrew a second time within the span of a week right before the practicals/Mini I due to personal reasons. The assistant dean of student affairs was super nice and said I should have no problems starting back in a subsequent semester. I think you should definitely try to get back in. The administration seems very reasonable and understanding.
