Hey everyone,

I tried posting this in the Clinical section but it wouldn't let me. I hope someone out there knows the answers! Thanks.

1. Is it possible to do all clinical rotations (including cores) in Newfoundland?
2. You need a min of 30 wks in electives, can you do all your rotations in one area, such as Family Med? If not, what are the requirements for having different specialties?
3. Does it matter which hospital or clinic you rotate in? In other words, as long as the hospital or clinic has surgeons, internists, etc, can you rotate there?

Any info you guys might have on Newfoundland rotations, that'd be great! I want to spend as little time as possible away from the province.

1. Highly doubted. ~no.
2. In theory, I suppose you could. But you won't get a residency then. DO NOT do that.
3. Yes, whatever speicalty you are rotating in...the facility must have residents or fellows in that specialty.

Your approach to staying in NF is way off. You will spend most (if not all) your time away if you come to Saba (or any other Carib med school).

If you aren't prepared to be away from Newfoundland for the next 7 years or more then I would reconsider your options. The vast majority of students are away from "home" for a minimum of 4 years and many throughout residency.
