I don't get it, why don't you all with stats like that just study your but off and take the MCAT again? You're going to have to become a decent test taker at some point (step 1) so why not do it now, and get into a US school even if it is a year later?
I was in a much different position high mcat, LOW gpa and there aren't a whole lot of ways to really fix that.
Just wondering.

To the original poster. Your friend will have a decent chance.

Agree with everyone here. Tell your friend to sign up for kaplan, take some months off and study his behind off for the mcat. Get a 28 or 30 so (which isn't extremely hard) and apply to a bunch of US schools - he'll get in somewhere.

thanks everyone. One hurdle is that he took few times and failed to get into 20s. He said he rather pursue another route. His cousin got 16M and graduated with 98 and 99 in both his steps. He also said Simply because english is his second language and MCAT convulutes stuff rather than ask knowledge based exam he would have at least a shot passing USMLE.

Have you ever thought about some people might have actually taken the MCAT more than once or even more twice! It gets a little exhausting after awhile! I guess what I am saying is different people have different reasons for doing what they are doing! Besides, I have known people with really low stats who managed to do extremely well on the Steps and are great doctors! So do not be alluted to the fact that MCAT is the only predictor of doing well through medical school and on the Steps!;)
