hey guys,

i just got this email from ross admissions, and just out of curiosity what does it mean? can i rest assured and assume that i'm in or does this just extend my anxiousness?

thanks ahead of time!

Dear Applicant,

Thank you for your interest in Ross University. Congratulations on making it this far through the admissions process! Our September 2008 class is already filled; therefore your application has been deferred for January 2009 consideration. If you are no longer interested in being considered for the January 2009 entering class, please contact me at jhemerka@rossu.edu to withdraw your application.

Otherwise, we will contact you with next steps regarding your application. I wish you success through the remainder of the admissions process.

I think that it means you will be considered for the January class the same way you would have been considered for the September class if it wasn't full. However, since you have it in "early" for January, you would have a higher chance of admittance than others who are just now turning it in. Just call or write your admissions advisor about it.

My interpretation of it is that the the class which you applied for is full. But the fact that they didn't reject you despite of this indicates that you're qualified enough to be considered at a later date. If I was you, I wouldn't worry too much. If anything, I think it is an indication that you are a competitive applicant.

thanks for your help guys! the only problem i have is that i am DEFINITELY in for the sept. class of AUA, but no idea about Ross in Jan.

So my problem is: should I wait for ross and possibly lose another year (and end up at AUA or a different school) or just go to AUA and start now and work my *** off?

Hold off for the Ross acceptance.
Hedge your bet and defer the AUA for Jan just in case.

Overall, Ross will be a better bet unless you have the personal funds for AUA tuition and budget etc.

I think that answer really depends on what you want. If time is important, definitely go with AUA. I don't know too much about AUA but i'm sure both options will help you become a successful physician if you work hard. I'm not sure if you already looked at this but some of the questions I would consider before making this decision is the USMLE pass rate (first attempt), Greenbook rotation, residency placement, and the states that you will be allowed to become licensed. Personally, I would wait for Ross U. just because they are one of the few schools that have been around the longest and it seems like they produce successful physicians year after year. But then again, this may also be true with AUA, so I think it really depends on if you are willing to wait an extra year to get into the BIG 4. I personally think its worth it :-)

Hey, if you wait for Ross, and you end up failing out, you can still go AUA. So there's a 2'fer

Yup, agree with the others...now's your chance to re-apply to the other schools also. Definately re-apply to St Georges if you hadn't already...forgot which one's AUA, but reapply to Ross and SGU.

what that means is you weren't rejected out right, but were not accepted (yet) either. they said they will consider your app for january. good sign, not bad sign.
