A 4.9 magnitude earthquake just hit (at 1:08AM EST) 70 miles off the coast of GND...just felt it in my building (slight tremor feeling, chair swayed back and forth and the floor wobbled a little)...crazy!

That what that was. I felt some movement and just thought it was my vertigo.

Until I saw the location of the epicenter, I thought Kick'Em Jenny might be getting ready to greet the August 08 class.

I never felt it at all. Last term's quake was definitely scary.

I was sitting in my computer chair that has wheels and thought it felt like the building was moving. I thought maybe I had studied enough for the night :)

The wife felt it here in Trinidad and woke us up. My first one last term was crazy.
You never forget your first.

Interesting. A bunch of us were walking about True Blue, but didn't feel anything.

It was barely barely noticeable. I think if I'd been walking around or something, I wouldn't have noticed it.
I didn't know they got earthquakes here, so the one second term was surprising.
Cali here though, so these are babies! Though volcanic eruption would probably have me screaming through the streets.
not to downplay your quake but Ross experienced a 7.4 earthquake in November of 2007. i was there....some intense stuff.
reason why hardly anybody died (in contrast to the recent 7.9 quake in China) was because the epicenter was fairly deep.
the dominica earthquake's epicenter was 90 miles deep while the quake in china had an epicenter of just 12 miles.

yeah most of us were in GND for that as well. Once I saw the epicenter online I thought Ross was in trouble, didn't realize at the time how deep underwater it was.

Yes, I was on St. Maarten when this happened, and at first, I thought a large truck was passing on the road, only the shaking didn't stop, and a minute or so later, everyone was standing on their balcony wondering what just happened.
