Actually, I think he is referring to everyone that says their apartment is close to school, when in-fact 95% of the posts are exagerated. Everyone's apartment is just 5 minutes from school (it is just that some are 5 minutes by foot, some by car, others by small plane, and some by teleportation).

certain places are pretty close, such as the complex right behind the high school or next to the papeleria. however, the definition of 5 minutes away from school can be interpreted in many ways (foot, car, plane, speed of light, taxi, running). another thing is that, you still have to walk quite a distance (at least five minutes) after you reach the the outergates of icb.
a big brother with getting a place by the high school is it can get really loud in the morning and after noon (arrival and departure of the kids).

Without the nearest cross streets (not the major intersections) one cannot determine how close it is to the school from most descriptions.

Taxi drivers get lost without the cross streets since you can be off by a colonia or two based on a street name.

I five minute taxi drive once in the car can be a long ways from where you are going, they know all the short cuts. One place five minutes away took a few of us over 40 minutes to talk it.

Walk the route before you rent or you could be sorry.
