Although the chances are VERY slim I'll get off the waiting list for a US school, what if I go to the island (august 08, already paid deposit), start classes, then a week later I get off the wait list? Most likely I'll go back to the US.

What would happen to my loans? I'm sure I can transfer them to the new school. But will I have to pay SGU a percentage of the tuition? Can anyone help me with this? I feel awkward asking my fin. aid advisor.

Thanks!

I think you can only be pulled off the waitlist at the latest before class starts. Once class starts, its' over... somebody correct me if I'm wrong.
If I'm right, SGU starts almost exactly the same time as US med schools, so it shouldnt be a problem.

i think there is a refund policy in place. I haven't really looked for it cuz i have no hope of getting elsewhere.

you can call the financial aid office and ask them annonymously or hypothetically, or make a friend call them if you are worried about them knowing your phone number.

many med schools' wait lists will close ~a week after classes start (so around the end of ug, beginning of sept).

there is a % of the tuition that will have to be paid, depending on when you withdraw, then the you can refund the remaining loans with sgu to the loan company and take loans out with the US school.

you may have to pay a pretty penny, but remember with US schools you can take out more in staffords as a med student and you can probably get a increase in loans to cover the tuition paid to sgu.

Look into getting an Interglobal student insurance policy. Apparently they refund you your tuition if you have to leave school forwhatever reason, though I'm not sure leaving to attend another school would qualify. Still, it's not very expensive & worth looking into it in my opinion. (Also, you can use the health insurance component of that to waive out of SGU's joke of a health insurance policy, and at half the price.)
