Is it easy to find part time jobs in Pilsen?
I want to work at weekends and atleast make enough money for my living expenses and food!

Does anyone know? how much can one make if he/she works at weekend?

I would presume that you need to speak good czech to be able to work, especially in a city like Plzen, where english isn't that common. That being said, you can try and find some czech people who are interested in learning english and tutor them on weekends or something. I know a few students here who are doing this and a few more try to work in bars and stuff (doing stand-up comedy but that's rare).

I'd just add to what Shrey has said already that I think it will be very difficult as an anglophone med. student to make anything like enough to cover all "living expenses and food" - not unless you have some special highly-paid skill that is not Czech language-dependent, or you are extremely frugal.

I also wouldn't rely upon working to cover all of my living expenses. It would be a much better idea to spend a good few years saving as opposed to struggling - medical school is a struggle at the best of times, never mind at times of financial uncertainty.

Good luck!

I think this is the only real option for you.

Every single one of my mates except one who lives in Prague is an English teacher. If your lucky enough to work for one of the good teaching agencies your still make less then 200kc/hour and that's in Prague, at a really, really good agency. In Pilsen your probably looking at half that! If English isn't your native language then you'll be really restricted with what you can do as there are tons of English/Americans/Canadians doing the job.

Take my word for it. If you don't have funds to get you through the entire degree then you'll need to have a rethink as you won't survive otherwise.

There are a few jobs here and there. I don't know how my three friends managed to tutor three random czech people. Anyways it didn't last long and they didn't really make that much. Because med school at the end of the day is no piece of cake, even more for a 1st year student as the transition is quite overwhelming.

Also many czech people have studied czech in schools and the children are coninuing to do so under the new reform so I don't think english tutors would be very necessary unless like diogenes pointed, you have some special skill in that language (and credentials to prove it).

I would recommend to continue finding some sort of banks that offer any private loan programs or perhaps some private sponsors. If not you can try your best to work in the summer and save up as much as you can.

Good Luck :)
