Just wondering if anyone has done IM rotation at St. John's Episcopal Hospital, Far Rockaway? Does anyone know what the hours are, or how many on calls? Are there teaching rounds and formal lectures? Any housing advice?
Thanks.

Hours depends on where you are assigned. If you are assigned to the ER you have to come in early and stay late (3P or so). If you are assigned to CP4 (the floor) or Detox, you can go home by noon nearly everyday. Assignment is random.

Everyday at noon, a medical student gives a powerpoint presentation. Your preceptor usually teaches you how to interview psych patients, etc.

You have to do 2 weekday calls (technically all night, but they only keep you 6P-8P in most cases. No one has stayed beyond midnight) and 1 weekend call (technically the whole weekend day, but usually 3-4 hours). You can reschedule your calls as you like.

If you are not interested in going into Psych, this is the perfect rotation. Take advantage of all the free time to study for Step 2. If you are interested in going into Psych, ask to be assigned to the ER.

i didntk now that aua offered im there, its accredited though,

its probably mediocre - brooklyn hospital's im clerkship is the only one we have in ny that i recommend but its hard to get because more established caribbean school students have priority there.
